Rationalizing the delivery of health care--part III

Attempts to regionalize and rationalize the delivery of personal health services and eye care services in particular are beset with social, political and economic problems. A review of past attempts in this direction points out some of the difficulties. Recent legislative and professional developments provide clues as to the likelihood that the delivery of eye care will be rationalized in the future.
