The expansion of freestanding diagnostic imaging centers and the special shielding requirements of MRI have given rise to a small industry of roughly a dozen companies that help plan, construct, and equip new facilities. Each player in this field claims to offer expertise in avoiding some common pitfalls in the development of such centers.
