The search for meaning in the face of death
Journal of Health Care Chaplaincy
|March 5, 1988
Abstract:
When confronted with the reality of death and loss, individuals are forced to struggle with basic questions of meaning in their lives. This struggle calls into question past, present and future values and relationships that the patient and family have. The ability to successfully deal with these questions greatly effects the dying and bereavement process. Caregivers, to assist the dying and bereaved, must become more aware of their own struggle if they wish to accompany the dying on their journey.
