Medicare program; recognition of state reimbursement control systems--HCFA. Proposed rule

This proposed rule sets forth the conditions and procedures under which HCFA would permit Medicare payments for hospital services to be made in accordance with a State hospital reimbursement control system, rather than under Medicare reimbursement principles. This proposal would implement section 101(a) of the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 (Pub. L. 97-248), section 601(c) of the Social Security Amendments of 1983 (Pub. L. 98-21) and section 2315(a) of the Deficit Reduction Act of 1984 (Pub. L. 98-369).
