Abstract:
Although in many respects American adolescents have never been healthier than they are today, expectations for future improvements must take into account cultural factors such as socioeconomic status, rural residence, and ethnic identity as well as specific issues associated with pregnancy, chronic illness, and eating disorders. Public health policy must address these concerns on the local, state, and federal levels.
