Radiotherapy can cause a unique, itchy, polymorphic skin eruption in cancer patients. This condition, characterized by eosinophilic infiltrates and perivascular deposits, requires further characterization.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To characterize the epidemiological, clinical, and histopathological features of patients with cancer developing widespread polymorphic and pruritic skin lesions after radiotherapy.
  • To investigate hematoxylin-eosin-stained sections, lymphocytic markers, eosinophilia, and autoantibodies in affected patients.
  • To propose a denomination for this newly described condition.

  • Phase 1: Epidemiological and clinical data collected from 103 cancer patients (83 radiotherapy, 20 controls).

    • This condition, previously not well-characterized, presents uniquely.
    • The term "eosinophilic, polymorphic, and pruritic eruption associated with radiotherapy" is proposed.
