Chemical components of shredded paper insulation: a preliminary study

This study evaluated shredded paper insulation for toxic components. No formaldehyde was detected, and other substances were found in amounts unlikely to be harmful to human health.

Conclusions:
- Shredded paper insulation contains expected fire retardants and other minor constituents.
- Under normal conditions, the analyzed insulation components are unlikely to pose a toxicological risk to occupants.
