1Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, Duke University Medical School, Durham, North Carolina, USA.
Abstract:
Older women report more depressive symptoms in community samples and are also more likely to seek medical care, although the frequency of suicide is more common among older men. Depression in the older man has been neglected by both investigators and clinicians. Gender is an important factor to consider in the diagnostic and treatment process.
