Abstract:
The article presents possible predictors of sudden death in children with cardiomyopathy. A total of 65 children were followed up. Of these, 38 had dilation cardiomyopathy, 27 presented with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, their ages ranging between one month to 15 years over the 8-year period. The study of genealogical, perinatal histories, features of the course of cardiomyopathy and instrumental examination permitted the identification of risk factors for sudden death in the pathology concerned. The need has thus been restated for a more through analysis of anamnesis, early clinical diagnosis and comprehensive evaluation of children with cardiomyopathy in order that patients with high risk of sudden death might be identified in a timely fashion.
