Summary

Postmeningitic deafness in children often leads to cochlear ossification, requiring surgical intervention. High-resolution CT scans can predict this ossification, with lateral semicircular canal imaging being more sensitive than cochlear views.

  • To retrospectively review high-resolution CT scans (HRCTs) of pediatric cochlear implant recipients post-meningitis.
  • To correlate HRCT findings with surgical observations of ossification.

  • Retrospective review of HRCTs from 20 pediatric patients (11 months to 12 years) who received multichannel cochlear implants.
