[Hypercalcemia in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (author's transl)]

A case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia that appeared as hypercalcemia with radiologic osseous abnormalities and back pain is described. Pathophysiologic mechanisms of hypercalcemia and treatment are reviewed. After initial treatment with phenobarbital and saline solutions, followed by specific treatment for the leukemic process, hypercalcemia descended to normal values.
