Summary

This study investigated antibiotic resistance in Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium clinical isolates. High-level aminoglycoside resistance was common in E. faecalis, with specific genetic markers and dissemination patterns identified.

    • E. faecalis HLAR strains showed clonal dissemination, while E. faecium HLAR was acquired through multiple independent events.
    • These findings highlight the importance of molecular surveillance for controlling enterococcal infections.
