[The "difficult" patient in community psychiatry]

The "difficult patient" does not exist in psychiatric textbooks but rather in every day practice. A solely diagnostic description is not very useful, the categorisation into three separate subgroups by Sheets et al. (1982) on the contrary helps a lot. Three case studies describes typical treatment-situations with "difficult patients" in a community psychiatric setting.
