[The use of molecular biology achievements in glaucoma diagnosis]

Glaucoma is the third leading cause of blindness in the world. The molecular basis of this disease is unknown, although it is likely to be genetically heterogeneous disorder that results from the interaction of multiple genes and environmental influences. Current achievements and new trends of molecular biology used in glaucoma diagnosis are presented.
