Abstract:
The postoperative course of 425 patients with isolated mitral valve replacement using either the Starr-Edwards disc prosthesis or the Björk-Shiley tilting disc valve is evaluated. Both protheses showed comparable clinical results during a follow-up period between 5 months and 4 years.
