Summary

Appetite-suppressant drugs (anorectics) can cause life-threatening pulmonary hypertension by affecting serotonin levels and inhibiting potassium channels, leading to increased calcium and vasoconstriction. Pre-existing defects may increase susceptibility to this serious side effect.
