The New A /New Jersey/ 76 influenza strain

This Memorandum reviews the information available on the new strain of influenza virus, A/New Jersey/76 (Hsw1N1), that first appeared at Fort Dix, NJ, USA, in February 1976. Recommendations are given concerning measures to be taken to detect spread of this strain and to meet the challenge if an epidemic should occur.
