Solitary cutaneous myxoma

Background:

• Cutaneous myxomas are rare benign tumors.

Observation:

• A 47-year-old man presented with a large pedunculated solitary cutaneous myxoma on his thigh.
• The patient had no clinical signs of Carney's complex, NAME, or LAMB syndromes.

Findings:

• Histopathological examination including H&E, special stains, and immunocytochemistry confirmed the diagnosis.
• Surgical resection was performed, and the patient remained recurrence-free at 6-month follow-up.

Implications:

• This case highlights the importance of accurate histological diagnosis of solitary cutaneous myxoma.
• Differential diagnosis should include myxoid neurofibroma, neurothekeoma, and fibromyxoid tumors.
