[EVolution of research strategies and development in the field of drugs]

In the field of drug discovery, strategies have moved on quickly over the last few years. Development of new disciplines as well as technical advancements in many fields, such as pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, pharmaceutics and toxicology have enabled earlier and improved selection of development candidates. These new avenues of research, using many often the progress in genomics and proteomics, have already led to the elucidation of mechanisms of action unknown to date, ending potentially in new medicines.
