Abstract:
Studies suggest that the aggressive use of follow-up mammograms could reduce reliance on breast biopsy as the definitive tool for ruling out malignancies. This article examines the value of various follow-up mammograms, including spot compression, magnification, 3- to 6-month follow-up, cancer follow-up and the annual mammogram. The roles of mammographers and radiologists in follow-up mammography also are discussed.
