Background:

  • Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition affecting men's health.
  • Lifestyle factors like smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, and obesity are potential contributors to ED risk.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To prospectively investigate the association between changes in lifestyle factors and the risk of developing erectile dysfunction in midlife men.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort study followed 593 men aged 40-70 without ED at baseline.
  • Data on lifestyle factors (smoking, alcohol, physical activity, obesity) were collected via interviews over an average of 8.8 years.
