Purpose:
We report the histological findings of a hydroxyapatite orbital implant 5.5 years after implantation.
Methods:
The hydroxyapatite orbital implant was excised from the left orbit of a 17-year-old female, and it was decalcified and processed for routine light microscopic evaluation.
Results:
The implant showed complete fibrovascularization with nearly complete osteogenesis with hematopoiesis.
Conclusion:
Bone may biointegrate throughout the pores of hydroxyapatite orbital implants.
