Summary

A giant appendix, though rare and often suspected as cancer, is usually caused by inflammation. This case highlights Crohn's disease limited to the appendix, which has a benign course and requires no further follow-up.

Background:

Giant appendix is a rare surgical finding, often mimicking neoplasia.
While typically inflammatory or infectious, its etiology requires careful consideration.

Observation:

A case of Crohn's disease exclusively affecting the appendix is presented.
Diagnosis was confirmed post-ileocolectomy, with only 156 prior reported instances.

Findings:

Appendiceal Crohn's disease presents a distinct clinical entity.
This condition follows a benign clinical course, differentiating it from classical ileocolitis.

Implications:

Patients with appendiceal Crohn's disease may not necessitate extensive investigations.
Current findings suggest no specific follow-up protocols are required for these rare cases.
