Summary

We present two cases of supravesical hernia, a rare condition where the intestine protrudes near the bladder. Abdominal CT scans can help diagnose this condition, improving patient outcomes.

Area of Science:

  • Abdominal Radiology
  • Surgical Anatomy

Background:

  • Supravesical hernias are rare anatomical defects.
  • Diagnosis can be challenging due to atypical presentations.

Observation:

  • Two cases of surgically confirmed supravesical hernias (internal and external) were analyzed.
  • Abdominal computed tomography (CT) revealed incarcerated intestine anterior to the urinary bladder.

Findings:

  • Neither case was definitively diagnosed preoperatively.
  • Abdominal CT demonstrated the anatomical relationship of the hernia to the bladder.

Implications:

  • Preoperative diagnosis of supravesical hernia using abdominal CT is feasible.
  • Improved diagnostic accuracy can lead to timely surgical intervention.
