Abstract:
Notwithstanding recent advances in our understanding of the genetics and biology of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), surgery remains the mainstay of curative treatment for this disease. Nevertheless, the role of surgery is changing with respect to both localized RCC and patients with metastatic disease. In this article, we review recent advances in the evolution and management of patients with localized RCC.
