5. Utility of F-18 FDG Imaging for Diagnosing the Infected Joint Replacement
Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) is a sensitive but not specific imaging test for diagnosing infected joint replacements. FDG PET is useful as a screening tool but not for monitoring treatment response due to false positives.
