Genetic variations in the interferon beta (IFNB) gene do not predispose individuals to multiple sclerosis (MS). However, specific interferon alpha (IFNA) gene polymorphisms significantly increase MS risk, suggesting IFNA genes are key candidates for MS predisposition.
