Multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) effectively quantifies visual function in age-related maculopathies. mfERG shows amplitude depression and latency prolongation, with significant changes in wet-form age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and moderate changes in dry-form AMD and idiopathic macular hole (IMH).

Background:

  • Age-related maculopathies, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and idiopathic macular hole (IMH), are leading causes of vision loss.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To measure and compare multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) responses in control subjects and patients with wet-form AMD, dry-form AMD, and IMH.
