[40th ICAAC. Catheter-related septicemia]
1Service de Maladies infectieuses et tropicales, Hôpital de la Salpêtrière, 47, bd de l'hôpital, F 75013 Paris.
Abstract:
A GROWING PROBLEM: Insertion or use of intravascular material is increasingly associated with septicemia. Septicemia occurs in 1 out of 1000 patients undergoing a non-surgical invasive cardiac procedure. The frequency of septicemia, particularly due to Gram-negative bacteria, is increasingly frequent in stem-cell graft recipients. PREVENTION MEASURES: Educational programs, for both patients and health givers, emphasizing the importance of aseptic can reduce the incidence of Gram-negative bacteria catheter-related septicemias.
