    Background:

    • Immunoglobulin levels are critical indicators of immune status.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the dynamic changes in serum immunoglobulin concentrations (IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD, IgE) following surgical procedures and spinal injury.
    • To identify potential correlations between immunoglobulin levels and operational factors or patient conditions.

    Main Methods:

    • Serum samples from 33 patients were collected at multiple time points (days 1, 3, 6, 10, 17, and 3-4 weeks) post-surgery (hysterectomy, appendectomy) or spinal injury.
    • Quantification of IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD, and IgE levels.
    • Analysis of changes in relation to operation type, infection, and blood transfusion status.

    Main Results:

    • Transient, slight decreases in IgG, IgA, and IgM were common after hysterectomy or appendectomy without complications.
    • IgD concentrations showed no consistent pattern, with one case of sharp decrease during infection.
    • IgE levels exhibited variable changes (no change, increase, or initial decrease).
    • No correlation was found between IgD levels and operation type, infection, or other immunoglobulin changes.

    Conclusions:

    • Serum immunoglobulin concentrations are subject to diverse and unpredictable influences following surgical trauma.
    • The immune response, as reflected by immunoglobulins, is complex and multifactorial after trauma.
    • Further research is needed to elucidate the specific mechanisms driving these dynamic immunoglobulin alterations.
