Area of Science:

  • Medicinal Chemistry
  • Pharmacology

Background:

  • Endothelin receptors (ET(A) and ET(B)) play crucial roles in cardiovascular and renal physiology.
  • Developing selective antagonists for these receptors is a therapeutic target.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To synthesize novel peptoid-based compounds.
  • To evaluate their potential as endothelin receptor antagonists.

Main Methods:

  • Synthesis of a new series of peptoid compounds.
  • Competitive binding assays using (125I) endothelin to assess receptor affinity.
  • Determination of IC50 values for antagonist potency.

Main Results:

  • Successful synthesis of novel peptoid derivatives.
  • Identification of compounds with competitive binding affinity for endothelin receptors.
