Summary
This study details a rare multicentric fibromatosis case. Both intraabdominal and abdominal wall fibromatoses were successfully resected with no recurrence after two years.
Area of Science:
- Surgical Oncology
- Pathology
- Gastroenterology
Background:
- Fibromatoses are rare soft tissue tumors.
- Multicentric fibromatosis is exceptionally uncommon.
- Intraabdominal and abdominal wall fibromatoses present unique challenges.
Observation:
- A patient presented with multiple fibromatoses of multicentric origin.
- One intraabdominal fibromatosis exhibited extremely rapid growth.
- A separate fibromatosis originating from the abdominal wall demonstrated invasive behavior.
Findings:
- All identified fibromatosis lesions were diagnosed and surgically resected simultaneously.
- Postoperative follow-up for two years revealed no evidence of lesion recurrence.
- Histopathological confirmation of fibromatosis was achieved for all resected specimens.
Implications:
- Simultaneous resection of multicentric fibromatoses is a viable treatment strategy.
- Complete surgical excision appears effective in preventing recurrence for this rare condition.
- This case contributes to understanding the management of aggressive, multicentric fibromatoses.
