    Background:

    • Previous research suggested a correlation between iris pigmentation and temporary threshold shift (TTS).
    • Melanin's protective effects were hypothesized to reduce auditory fatigue in individuals with darker irises.
    • A high correlation was noted between melanin in the stria vascularis and iris pigmentation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between eye color and auditory fatigue.
    • To test the hypothesis that individuals with highly pigmented irises are more resistant to TTS.
    • To compare TTS levels across different iris color categories under controlled auditory stimulus.

    Main Methods:

    • Auditory stimulus: 1000 Hz at 110 dB SPL for 3 minutes.
    • Measurement of temporary threshold shift (TTS) at 20 seconds and 2 minutes post-exposure.
