Summary

Olanzapine, an antipsychotic medication, can induce manic symptoms in patients with schizophrenia, even those previously untreated. Symptoms resolved after discontinuing the drug.

  • These manic symptoms subsided upon cessation of olanzapine.

Implications:

  • This case highlights a potential adverse effect of olanzapine.
  • Clinicians should monitor for manic symptoms during olanzapine treatment, especially in treatment-naive patients.
