Summary

Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) is unaffected by treadmill exercise protocol, but anaerobic threshold (AT) is protocol-dependent. Shorter protocols efficiently assess VO2max in untrained individuals, while trained individuals benefit from gradient-based protocols.
