[Modeling of potential metal binding sites of glycoproteins]

The metal ion coordination of carbohydrate type molecules is gradually influenced by the anchoring groups of the ligand molecules. Below we summarize our knowledge on the copper(II) complexes of the model compounds containing also carboxylate, ammine or both groups beside the alcoholic hydroxy groups obtained by combined potentiometric--UV/VIS, circular dichroism, electron spin resonance and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic methods.
