Summary

New cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors offer effective inflammation and pain relief with fewer gastrointestinal issues than traditional NSAIDs. However, they do not protect the kidneys or heart and require further study for long-term safety and cost-effectiveness.
