Abstract:
This paper discusses the relationship between a hospital patient and his healthcare worker who is HIV positive or has active AIDS. What are the actual and potential risks involved? How much is a patient entitled to know about the HIV status of his doctor, dentist or nurse? How much does a carer have to reveal in this regard to a patient? Case law is adduced and discussed in the light of current approaches to this problem.
