Summary

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) identified pseudo-optic disc pits in a patient with macular syndrome. These findings, missed by traditional methods, suggest a new classification: pseudo-disc-pits macular syndrome.

Findings:

  • OCT revealed cystic schisis-like pits (pseudo-pits) not visible with ophthalmoscopy or FAG.
  • These pseudo-pits appeared to communicate with inner retinal separations.
  • The findings support a distinction from true optic disc pit macular syndrome.

Implications:

  • The study proposes "pseudo-disc-pits macular syndrome" as a distinct clinical entity.
  • OCT is essential for diagnosing subtle macular abnormalities.
  • This reclassification may improve understanding and management of specific macular conditions.
