Background:

The Florida Department of Health (FDOH) has a decade-long quality performance improvement system.
FDOH piloted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) state agency and local Public Health System Performance Standards.
These standards were evaluated for their integration with existing quality initiatives.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the compatibility and support of CDC performance standards with FDOH's quality improvement systems.
To identify performance variations among Florida's county health departments.
To pinpoint areas requiring enhanced focus, particularly in workforce development.

Main Methods:

Pilot testing of CDC state agency and local Public Health System Performance Standards by FDOH.
Evaluation of the standards' impact on FDOH's existing quality performance improvement system and Quality Management initiative.
