    Area of Science:

    • Analytical Chemistry
    • Quantitative Analysis

    Background:

    • Accurate quantitative analysis is crucial in various scientific fields.
    • Traditional methods often require precise volume measurements, which can be cumbersome.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop a simplified and accurate quantitative analysis method.
    • To eliminate the need for exact volume measurements in sample preparation.

    Main Methods:

    • An internal standard is added in equal quantities to both sample and standard solutions.
    • A standard curve is generated by plotting the ratio of spot diameters (Ds/Di) against the logarithm of the material quantity.
    • Ds and Di represent the average diameters of the standard and internal standard spots, respectively.

    Main Results:

    • The ratio Ds/Di remains constant for a given solution, irrespective of the spotted volume.
    • This constancy allows for accurate estimations without precise volume control.
    • The method was successfully applied to estimate menthol in peppermint oil and strychnine in nux vomica seed.

    Conclusions:

    • The proposed method offers a robust and simplified approach to quantitative analysis.
    • It enhances accuracy and efficiency by removing the requirement for exact volume spotting.
    • This technique is applicable to diverse chemical estimations in natural products and pharmaceuticals.
