Neutrophilic fixed drug eruption.

Summary

A man developed a fixed drug eruption from amoxicillin-clavulanic acid. Histopathology revealed a neutrophilic dermatosis, suggesting a new condition: neutrophilic fixed drug eruption.

Background:

Fixed drug eruptions are a common cutaneous adverse drug reaction.
Neutrophilic dermatoses are inflammatory conditions characterized by neutrophil infiltration.

Observation:

A 49-year-old male presented with a recurrent, localized rash after amoxicillin-clavulanic acid administration.
Skin biopsy of the affected area showed a neutrophilic dermatosis.

Findings:

The histopathological findings of neutrophilic dermatosis in a fixed drug eruption are novel.
This case challenges the typical understanding of fixed drug eruption pathology.

Implications:

The findings suggest a potential new clinical entity: neutrophilic fixed drug eruption.
This may necessitate re-evaluation of diagnostic criteria and treatment approaches for certain drug-induced eruptions.
