Summary

Two novel antioxidative diterpenoids, plectranthol A and B, were isolated from Plectranthus nummularius leaves. Their antioxidant potential was evaluated using the alpha,alpha-diphenyl-beta-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method.

Main Results:

  • Two new diterpenoids, plectranthol A and plectranthol B, were identified.
  • Two known diterpenoids, parvifloron E and F, were also isolated.
  • The antioxidative activities of these compounds were quantified using the DPPH method.

Conclusions:

  • Plectranthus nummularius contains novel diterpenoids with antioxidative properties.
  • Plectranthol A and B represent new additions to the class of antioxidative natural products.
  • Further research may explore the therapeutic potential of these compounds.
