Abstract:
Because new research suggests that there is a disparity between the care delivered to this population versus younger asthma patients. And perhaps as a result, asthmatics over the age of 70 are hospitalized for asthma-related reasons at more than twice the rate of younger adults. Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have uncovered shortcomings in the education, self-care skills, and pharmacologic management of these older patients. Get the details on this research and find out what you can do to shore up care and reduce utilization for this population.
