Germany needs an infrastructure of blanket coverage throughout the Federal Republic in the field of telemedicine and applied IT. The "Aktionsforum Telematik im Gesundheitswesen" (ATG)/"Action platform telematics in the health care system", founded by the organisations of decentralised administrations in health care wants to provide the necessary "uniform health platform". Those who are involved have to work out agreements on the introduction of telematic applications (e.g. e-prescriptions, e-medical reports) and have to address proposals to the legislation. The implementation of telematics in the daily routine of health provisions will considerably improve the transparency, quality and the specialist and comprehensive collaboration in the medical sector. It will also provide public health politics with important information that is required to control and further develop an efficient health care system.
