Summary

Tissue conditioners are crucial for accurate oral impressions. Most conditioners shrink and lose weight over time, except SR-Ivoseal which expands. Optimal impression time is 24 hours.

Background:

  • Tissue conditioners are vital for creating functional impressions of oral mucosa.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the linear dimensional changes and weight changes of six tissue conditioners over time.
  • To determine the relationship between dimensional changes, weight changes, water absorption, and solubility.
  • To identify the optimal time for obtaining functional impressions.

Main Methods:

  • Six tissue conditioners were tested: COE Comfort, FITT, GC Soft-Liner, Hydro-Cast, SR-Ivoseal, and Visco-Gel.
  • Linear dimensional changes and weight changes were measured using a travelling microscope at various time points up to 21 days.

    • Selection of appropriate tissue conditioners is critical due to observed variations in dimensional stability.
