Background:

Mitral valve stenosis assessment is crucial for patient management.
Accurate measurement of mitral valve orifice is key to determining stenosis severity.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the efficacy of three-dimensional echocardiography (3DE) in assessing mitral stenosis severity.
To compare 3DE methods with conventional Doppler methods for mitral valve orifice measurement.

Main Methods:

45 patients with mitral stenosis underwent assessment using Doppler pressure half-time and two 3DE techniques (anyplane echocardiography, surface rendering).
New indices: doming volume and mitral valve volume were explored.
Subgroup analysis included patients with atrial fibrillation and critical stenosis.
