Abstract:
(1) More than 36 000 oocyte collection procedures were done in France in 1997. The mean clinical pregnancy rate was about 20%, but figures varied widely among centres. (2) Ovarian stimulation prior to oocyte harvest is achieved by injecting recombinant FSH or hMG, usually together with a Gn-RH antagonist or analogue in order to avoid premature ovulation. (3) Ovarian hyperstimulation can be life-threatening.
