An overview of risk assessment in sedation

It is hoped that this article has raised some of the issues with regard to risk management in sedation; however, it does not replace the need to read the GDC Guidelines thoroughly and to ensure that sedation is practised in accordance with contemporary standards. When things do go wrong it is not unusual for Health Authorities or the GDC to take a very active interest and therefore early advice should always be sought from one's defence society.
