[Blood system response to emotional stress and low-dose ionizing radiation]

Rat experiments have shown that long-term emotional stress provokes adaptive reaction consisting in temporary activation of all the bone marrow lineages. Gamma preradiation (2 days before the stress) in low doses (0.5 and 0.2 Gy) destroyed this adaptive reaction dose-dependently: 0.5 Gy preradiation arrested activation of all the lineages while 0.2 Gy preradiation prevented activation of only a lymphoid lineage. It is inferred that low-dose ionizing preradiation influences hemopoietic system of stressed animals.
